Someone contemplates the abyss. Or what’s really happening here?

As always, the goal is to write a caption from within a character. Just a few words that intuit who’s taking this picture, and why. Note that the man’s face isn’t really visible. Nor is the scenery the focus. If anything, that guardrail hogs the spotlight.
