David Fincher told me that when the Operation Latte Thunder scene was first shot, it didn’t work. The huge globe that appears to have the Geffen logo on it, when it rolled from its pedestal it was so lightweight that it floated over the fountains and pools below. It had to be reshot with a heavier ball and massive sound effects to imply greater tonnage.
Now we see huge lightweight balls bouncing around London.
Maybe it’s a homage to The Prisoner?

That is a great scene. Also, The Prisoner is an awesome series ahead of its time. Saw an extended interview/documentary with Patrick McGoohan. The series was deeply rooted in his concern about the developing surveillance state.
Seems pretty Prisoner-ish. Or, the Man from U.N.C.L.E.
