So, I just met with the producers of a new series proposed to Netflix… about writers
For a look at the details, click here. I’ve agreed to a three-segment episode. One segment will be shot at a Story Night. One segment will be shot at a workshop night. The last will be shot in my office. Most likely this will take place in early April 2023.
The pilot episode will profile Josh Malerman, author of Bird Box. Our episode will be the second in the series.
Check out the production website. Follow them on social media if you can. Cross your fingers.
Whoooaaaaaaaaaa. It's been don't know how long, 15 years or more maybe, that I've been following you. Books, interviews, podcasts. And yet, every time you're involved in a new project I can't stop shuffling my feet under the desk like a toddler on Christmas Eve.
Congratulations, Chuck.
Given that the film adaptation of ‘Bird Box’ premiered on Netflix to great success, I’d say there’s a good chance Netflix will take an interest in the series. Having the author of ‘Bird Box’ be the focus of the first episode -- regardless of whether it was a strategic move or coincidence -- works in favour of the series proposition, I’d wager.
I’ll keep tabs on its progress and, regardless of whatever home the series finds, I’ll be bingeing it when it comes out.
P.S. Really nice of you to say “our episode”. I mean, I’m assuming that’s a pleasant way of you incorporating everyone at Story Night, on this SubStack, etc, into the episode; though I could be wrong and that could be a rather unfortunate Freudian slip that suggests there’s maybe more than one personality in that head of yours.
