House Call #1
A Call for Writing Samples
Let’s Start with Christmas 1996
The filmmaker Seth Porges has made a documentary about the Cacophony Society, in particular about the first SantaCon to be held in NYC — and how it’s grown into a total shit show. Much of the film is found footage which includes the above screen capture of me and my 1985 Toyota truck with the studded snow tires chained in the back, ready for any winter emergency. Seth’s work includes How to Rob a Bank which I enjoyed very much. His SantaCon doc premiers at DOC NYC this week, Thursday, Nov. 13th. Check out the trailer here.
Now the Call for Writing Samples
In the Comments below, please post a link to your writing. I’ll be looking for samples that allow me to post feedback in your Comments section, be it SubStack or Thread Reader or whatever platform. Clarity is always my first priority, and we can have a back-and-forth if I’m confused by what takes place in the story.
In the real world you’ll get little or no chance to do set-up, so avoid it here. Let the work speak for itself. I’ll choose one or two, possibly three samples over the next couple weeks.
Besides that I’ll be looking for work we can all learn from. It’s an experiment. Let’s see how it goes. Like SantaCon, it’s all fun until someone chokes to death on his own vomit.

Choking to death on your own vomit is when the party really begins.
A bite-sized one I mentioned: https://open.substack.com/pub/loganthelobotomizer/p/goodnight-moon?r=1p2eyi&utm_medium=ios
