Occasionally he would look at me and smile nervously as if he didn’t want to admit that he couldn’t play it.

There was a big sign outside the door that read “Tonight Parents Without Partners Annual Desperation Dance.”

All the women were wearing wedding dresses, and all the men were wearing jockstraps.

She turned to me and asked, “Do you want to feel my baby?”
