Egg enjoys her morning coffee, surrounded by recently arrived treats from the New York Story Night crew. The painted bucket of toys and treats arrived safe and charming. Thank you!
Tomorrow I’m off to Los Angeles to record a session with Soft White Underbelly. What the creator, Mark Laita, does seems akin to what Studs Terkel was doing decades ago in his book Working, simply allowing people to describe their professions. As a teenager I read all the Terkel books, trying to find a vocation, but finally decided that what I really wanted to be was Terkel himself, just talking to people.
On this same trip I’ll likely be stopping by the Hotel Cecil. The CBS network wants to tape a long-form interview, and I suggested the Cecil because its recent resident, Elisa Lam, was a reader of my work and quoted my books in her social media.
The gifts were all Karin K and Eric I’d ideas. Shout out to two of the biggest supporters of and performers at New York Story Night!
On a different note, Elisa Lam was such a horror story for me when I was a kid! It’s a staple of the weird corners of the Chinese internet.
I wonder if guests at The Hotel Cecil have reservations about drinking the water to this day.
