As a child it’s always unsettling to see your mother or father frightened…
When I was small the highest bookshelf was reserved for the strictly off limits. Up there were medical textbooks and such, and among them was an anthology of horror stories. My mother had read it and warned us to never touch the book. In particular she’d read a story titled They Bite, and it had shaken her so badly she’d put the book away as a young woman and never took it down again. Of course I climbed a chair and read the story before the age of ten. As I did the medical textbooks. Living isolated in the desert didn’t help, but the story scared me.
This evening as I sort and box prizes for the up-coming tour, I’m listening to ghost stories. Look what I’ve found. Listen if your dare.
Was looking for something before bed. 🥸
"Not appropriate for the mentally deranged!!!" I'm not allowed to listen!
