With the internet, you dont need a publisher. You just need perseverance. People willing to pay a few bucks to read your work will find you if youre patient and consistent. And even if not, who cares? Just keep writing. Theres nothing more exciting than an idea that wont leave me alone.

Had an idea about a story where our economy becomes nothing but individuals selling art and crafts to one another.

Guy handed me a book in Illinois after Hurricane Katrina. He said This is the guy who wrote Fight Club. And, yes, I was one of those who didn’t know. The book was Choke. I had no idea books could be written that way. 18 years later I’ve read them all multiple times. Just recently, Choke again, to help with my mom’s passing. If you’d sold out, if you didn’t write Fight Club in the face of the publishers, I would have missed out: I wouldn’t know books could be written like that and I wouldn’t have permission to see the world like a writer and create. So, thank you Chuck. Your work has been for me when I needed it most.
