Yikes! Another Crowdfunding Thing Implodes!
I’d agree to contribute the story Celeste to this collection, but declined to promote the crowdfunding part. Once burned, twice shy? More like many times burned.
A few years back I agreed to attend a horror convention to be staged at the Stanley Hotel in Colorado. Yes, the hotel on which Stephen King based The Overlook Hotel in The Shining. The convention promised three days of antics, including Big Wheel races (ala Danny Torrance) up and down the hotel hallways. An October of fun! The hotel was planting a shrubbery maze!
Lots of tickets got sold at $3000 a pop — including to my friend, Nic, in Boston — before allegations surfaced about the event organizer. Of course all the money vanished when said organizer took a powder. This — and several other botched projects — leaves me leery of ever being involved in a crowdfunded anything.
Now it looks like another crowdfunded project has hit the skids.
Does anyone know the alleged details behind this mass exodus? Spill the tea, people!

Such a “horror.” It is ironic how “horrifying” this is. Some may say “demonic.” Seems perfect for the theme?
