George!
This has been a long time coming. A sit-down I did with George Stroumboulopoulos — i.e. The Joe Rogan of Canada? — in a haunted movie star house in West Hollywood. It’s always a pleasure, and this new long-form beats the five-minute chats we’ve always done for the CBC.

Forgive me for being such a stranger. This winter I’ve been down a Georges Bataille rabbit hole. This, while rereading all of Tom Wolfe and the New Journalism. Bataille seems to have been the suppressed Existentialist who’s only lately been allowed into the conversation. The emerging poster boy for the New Transgressive. Click Here for a quick peek into George B. Lot’s of insight into the no-go of Eros & Thanatos. “The sacrament available in the brothels.” And human sacrifice. “This is the meaning of sacrifice, human or animal, by which the death of an individual confirms the continuity of existence.”
P.s. It looks as if Simon & Schuster will bring out our anthology Silent Nightmares, so that means bigger promotion and better distribution. Everything chugging along.
I’m not familiar with Stroumboulopoulos, but the mention of CBC is more than enough to get me there for the interview. Having grown up in South Canada (i.e. western new york), CBC was a mainstay because it was one of the few channels that burst through the fuzz long enough to watch on the small black and white TV that lived on my dresser.
Great news on the Silent Nightmares front. I have zero expectation my story will be selected - there are just far too many talented writers out there - but of course there’s a small voice in the background that whispers “Yes, but what if…”.
