Had a first Zoom reading today in the Discord channel! Not to sound desperate or anything, but since I am, if anyone wants to move to rural KY for the cheap land to homestead, its quite fashionable these days, and I will workshop with you.
You can subscribe to voice modulator software service that alters your voice on the fly to try and replicate famous voices. There is stuff on YouTube about it. You would have to practice at the cadence and verbal ticks to really sell it.
When I saw your call for Gloves Off, I thought of every reason I could not to share anything. Then I told my husband and he might as well have slapped sense into me. So I went to create a post in Substack and ended up against a tech issue. They’re working on it.
One time I met you. I listened to you tell stories of dropped body parts and being driven to the Eiffel Tower by a mad person, juxtaposed with the gold leaf of the historic Davenport Hotel ballroom and mirrors. So many mirrors.
Anyway, I feel like a wall flower in this group. A lot because I fell off the planet last fall when my dad was killed, and a lot because I listen to my sabotage story. And the drive, and my kids and... shit, I know you’re not talking to me but with different ears and eyes, you are.
I may not be joining you there but this is the email I needed to read. This is the ‘step up and show up’ slap I needed.
Man, Youngstown, Ohio is totally the opposite. Very tough crowd, If they even show up. Most talk really loud or laugh over top of the person reading. People are quick to edit you or make reading suggestions to your style in the middle of it— while on stage. Too many creatives in one place all holding each other down in a lobster pot.
Thank you for all those wonderful stories that people read tonight. I feel like every great peice gives me insight on how to elevate my work. Thank you for everyone that listened to my story. I look forward to putting in the work to be better. I look forward to the future.

Working on my Morgan Freeman voice for the next session. Currently somewhere between Gollum and Darth Vader but it’s getting there.

Thanks for the mention! Your suggestion has taken it to another level. Much appreciated. Looking forward to hearing more stories tomorrow!
You owned the room. "Think of coastal cities" and cherry tomatoes will never be the same for me. You wrecked us.
I still think of "think of coastal cities." Great job last time, Amber!

'Sounds like you have excellent credentials.
I'll be there with some work. I hope to do the workshop and substack proud. I can't wait to hear what everyone else brings.
Heath Ledger is also reading. As is Spaulding Grey. We might have a traffic jam of dead actors.
There were some good ghost stories. I was impressed.
Kitty!
I'm sending all my great juju to every single one of you. I know you're going to TEAR IT UP!!!

In Hindsight, applause is like crack. A little goes a long way. And then you want more.
Break a leg, everyone!

Is the possible podcast a second series to the one you did with Chelsea or something different? 😊
Hey All!
Can I ask, are the Hindsight Story Nights every Monday?
And the Feedback/Critique nights, every Thursday for how long?
I'm looking to make the trip from Denmark/NY out west to y'all – just want to make sure I got the dates right!
Thanks a million!
