What the...? Normally I'm able to resize the Giant Chuck Face, but today it won't stay little. Sorry for the Giant Face. Let's hope the landlord fixes this glitch.

I'll light a candle for him tonight. The Road and Invisible Monsters are what got me into reading when I was in 7th grade.

The head looks fine on my phone. Maybe it's a desktop thing.

My phone made the head giant, maybe it’s Canada to blame?

Maybe ghost hunting got usurped by notorious killer hunting? Now people here in Denver want to see Columbine or Klebold and Harris' houses. Or the Aurora movie theatre where James Holmes gunned people down in their seats. They want to visit the courthouse in Aspen that Ted Bundy escaped from. Ghosts isn't enough - it's gotta be salacious and real life.

At least you'll always have the Stanley Hotel.

Fugitives and Refugees deserves an update if theyre still printing it. Hopefully before my manifest destiny.

Stayed in a cheap hotel in Columbus Ohio with a gorgeous view of the dumpster out back. One stairwell had all the carpet ripped up and what appeared to be a large blood stain in the bare concrete.

John Cusack stories— I have some from when he was doing “In the Garden of Good And Evil.” I stay quiet about those, as well. I will reveal, from make-up, he does like his eyeliner on the lower lid.

In addition to Mary Roach’ Spook, let me recommend Colin Dickey’s Ghostland, another fascinating historical nonfiction exploration of “haunted” tourist sites. Also, this gem: https://youtu.be/DAN0OCagHzQ

Have you seen the mall prank fake suit one? Not sure I’ve ever laughed that hard in my life.

Expand full comment

The skit before the mall prank suit? Coffin flop? That’s the one that cracks me up, I’m crying, my wife is asking wtf is wrong with you?

But also. Yeah, the mall prank skit gets me, too.

😂😂 that dude kills me.

"The John Cusack stories I will take to my grave." This is now all I'll ever think about. And if you should die before I do, there's a chance that you become the subject of a séance.

Can it be somewhat like the Conversation? the Gene Hackman movie. Half of the story probably. Much of that ghost/occult endeavor rely on surveillance and spying on potential customers. Its like a 9 to 5 job. So that when the moment of the ghost reveal comes, a captivating performance or story will be played. Interesting prompt.

What sounds better: a haunted warehouse or a haunted grocery store?

grocery store. unique. i can't think of a story where it has been done. Probably lends itself to more comedy ideas.

Also, I had an idea where a motel owner feeds people to a Eldridge abomination living in a room.

Interestingly enough, there is a book on the shelf in the Heathman’s library that is hollow, and I’ve hidden a poem in it to replace the five dollar “beer money” contribution I found in it. Happy hunting!

They do have those ghost hunting shows on television. I've often wondered what is must be like to produce those. Particularly when you are on say episode 50.

"It's time to make the donuts" comes to mind.

As the son of a "trance medium", who spent much of his childhood inside spiritualist churches, take it from me there is no such thing as a genuine medium, nor any real ghosts. Human imagination however is the realest most powerful force on this earth.
