She does. Her deepest secret wish is that you'll break in one night and elope with her to an isolated farm in Pennsylvania. Didn't you even watch 'Klute'? That's what all sexy ladies want.
That is really good. I totally missed that. Reminds of when June sings "Heaven is a Place on Earth" while she is surviving a dystopian hellscape in the Handmaid's Tale show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg7CAY1pjwQ
Hmm, maybe I need to pull out one of those old German hymns from my Lutheran upbringing and put it to good use. My father was a powerful tenor and would often sing at people's weddings and funerals.
Yeah I'm still not a tension builder. Like Tao Lin for instance. I thought his novel was hilarious/depressing because Narrator (Paul) is moving through the world completely bereft and his inability to make meaning in an autistic-seeming mind/android-like at times, was hilarious. There was one line where Paul is doing a reading at some bookstore and asks someone, "Is David Foster Wallace really big in Canada? What I meant to say was America." He's kind of lost in his own brain and it creates a beautiful sense of affect. His latest novel is less depressed so it's got highlights a little different. But it was funny because, people kept saying horrible things about it, "worst book I've ever read." "I'm on the subway and I'm losing brain cells reading Tao Lin's TAIPEI. I thought it was hilarious. A little less gritty and gentler than JESUS' SON but similar themes. I don't know if I've laughed out that loud before while reading. He's extremely funny but there's no tension. So you can do it without tension but maybe will have a different audience. And he writes autofiction which isn't your forte. You do what Kubrick did where he does a different genre each film and puts his own spin on it. I've never felt much tension from Kubrick films, they're boring but they are interesting because of how boring they are. This is also a major theme in PALE KING.
TAIPEI reminding me of those Absurdist Existential classics you're always talking about like, Camus' THE STRANGER. It's kind of like when someone asked you if you'd have Darren Aronofsky direct one of your films and you said, "I think he's too intense for my work." Some of Sartre's work as well, NAUSEA & NO EXIT.
I read an article the other day that a restoration team found the original Wilhelm session reel. Maybe not the best scream, but probably the most ubiquitous.
Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I received my prize - safe and sound. Thank you for putting it together. Your thoughtfulness, craftsmanship and generosity are very much appreciated.
I am also happy to accept Otto and Cecil's very kind invitation.
If you want to hear the actual best scream in cinema, see Klute himself doing it here: https://youtu.be/GEStsLJZhzo
Not even close, dude.
We talking about my quiz answer or my submission for best cinema scream here?
Your scream contestant.
You weren’t there to see it, but I just threw my authentic medieval gauntlet down on the ground in outrage.
Word :p I second that motion.
Now I have to listen to rage techno... https://www.youtube.com/live/pZhUS_q4jkc?feature=share
The OnlyFans girl really does like me. Don't make fun.

I had mom watch it for me ;p
I had your mom watching me watch it. She enjoyed every minute of it...
Are you ever not looking at your email?
Sometimes I stare at the wall.
Theres a whole world of walls to stare at out here. Some of them have pretty stuff on them.
If you had seen the graffiti I’ve seen, you wouldn’t be saying that.
Wheres Banksy when you need him?
Ambience and subtlety

Awwwh! Congratulations, Kimberly!!! Man— you all are light years beyond my comprehension of most of the contest. I’ll keep learning!
Nice work. Congrats from Cincinnati.

Thank you for the lesson Chuck.
Congratulations to the winner.
There are too damned many devices.
The more you're aware of, the more options you have as you write.

Wallace was a master of tension though so if it works for you it works for you. A 12 step saying, "take what you like and leave the rest."

Hooray! Thank you, Chuck!
I'm bummed I missed your favorite - but I'm super glad I picked up on your second favorite!
I actually really loved that scene with Bree singing all by her lonesome. Guess I should have paid closer attention to the lyrics. 😅
And I did make note of the flowers 💐

Congratulations Kimberly!! What an awesome catch!! And thank you for this inspiration Chuck. I needed it.
And yeah, I think that scream just ruined breakfast lol
Anyone in here on Bluesky? Got invited in this week. It’s Twitter without Musk.
Congrats Kimberly 🥳
Any suggestions on using songs and lyrics in writing? Any time I've read any, they seem awkward, e.g. Pynchon.
