Nice point about sexualisation as a way to negate. It made me also think that infantalisation is also a way to negate. We don't see motherhood as frightening or powerful if we regard it as cute and cuddly. We don't see men beating up other men as horrifying if we think of them as angry little boys who never grew up. Lots to think about today when writing.

One of the catalyzing elements of the French Revolution was a flood of smutty comic books printed in Switzerland. The books showed the French royal family sexually engaged with clergy and animals. As propaganda created for illiterate people, it undermined any awe or respect the lower classes had for the monarchy. These days those smutty little books are worth a fortune.
