LOL. Chinese Trainspotting. My goodness. All the junkies get hauled off to prison camps via train and then promptly executed with a handy pistol. I saw a photo journal of how the Taliban treats their opium addicts. I was surprised they allowed their addicts to live quite frankly. I'm still smiling over all of the wonderful prizes and darling gifts Mr. Palahniuk! Thank you Tom Williams! https://www.vice.com/en/article/pkb7yb/astonishing-photos-show-heroin-users-forced-into-harsh-rehab-by-taliban
I did Mr. Palahniuk! I absolutely adore everything! Such kind words and wonderful prizes! I can't wait to read these wonderful books and write in my journal (dare I write in it)! The Duchess Royal Navy pin is quite an interesting item and the carrot seeds were icing on the cake! I had to move the carrot post to my cheapcrassdevilworshipper substack account for human resource job reasons. Le sigh. Within a week I'll be able to read everyone's future by the palm of their hand! I'm tickled pink! Thank you Mr. Palahniuk!
On his latest podcast Bret talks about cancel culture as the new McCarthyism and references Mao's cultural revolution, observing "a destroyed culture is more easily controlled."
So I'd say Bret is just about fully red pilled now. How long until he uses the term "cultural Marxism"?
He is the type to pick up or toss out things based on what is convenient for his latest stage performance rather than following any sort of ethical path or consistency in regards to a set of values. What is scary are folks who don't see the pile up of inconsistencies and contradictions quite a few in positions of power utilize in their tool bag on the path to insatiable money and power.
Interesting points. What saddens me also, is that a lot of people forget easily whatever comes from what politicians do or don't. Every election term--in any country--getting mesmerised by the same play. At the start of the pandemic there was a general low-key feeling among a lot, that things might change! But, it's not only the system that wants to keep the status quo, it's the brain dead majority's close attachment to conformity and usual safe routes of life that keeps this world a giant bullshit fest. So, not only the politicians suck, it's the people, hence the expression Garbage in, Garbage out.
I think politicians take full advantage of most folks not following politics. They assume most people will see an occasional two line tweet or a couple minute news bite and then forget about politics for a while. I wish folks would pay more attention. It is appalling what they are up to. Always acting against the best interest of the regular people to help the super rich rob us some more.
The amount of people that just take everyone's word for it is bonkers. Then you have the other end of the spectrum who think they know something that the "sheep" don't, but are just taking some against the grain nutter's word for it.
Incidentally, some space-monkey’s job is listening to constituent voice mails to their Senator. In grad school, I liked to add calling your Senator to the many drinking games we played. Just saying; https://www.cruz.senate.gov/contact/office-locations
I bet sales are decent in Texas. A good banning is like a flashing sales beacon to people! We once had a school assembly where the teacher spoke to us about what an appalling influence on us the band Oasis were, how their behaviour was shocking, how we should never view people like that as role models etc. Anyone that wasn't already into them rushed out and bought their records immediately. The best marketing team in the world couldn't have made them seem any more appealing!
P.S. Every time I look in the mirror I see some glitter stuck in my hair, clothes and/or face I snicker. You totally delivered on just the right amount of glitter lol. I'm going to to use them to decorate my next terrarium.
Oh shit. Glittery vampires are the shittiest vampires of the bunch! At least it's Mr-Palahniuk-glitter so that means I could probably beat up the other glitter vampires. ;P Seriously though. It's great. I'm reading "Make Something Up" and I love the sentences "Randy be the one to get his tender propensity brutally womanized, night and day by roving gangs of hungry bro dawgs. All of them bent on committing fruitless acts of prison cellular reproduction." :/ Those are some statements!
You ever read Backroads by Tawni Odell? I just saw the movie on Amazon Prime. It's probably my second favorite book after Fight Club. I've read it probably 6 times........ anyhow......my birthday falls on Thursday! Last Thursday in February. I'll be 49. You gonna be at Study Hall? I'll book a flight if you are def gone be there!!!!!!!
I can't......stuck home with 5 dogs.......I kind of need to plan lol......they make it hard to jetset. But you can def plan on being there on my 49th birthday. (Uh my social anxiety is what makes it hard to go anywhere). From locking my ass in the house for over a decade, prescribed 5 controlled substances at once to meeting Chuck Palahniuk, my idol......who woulda thunk Chuck?????? I appreciate you........................
Depriving inmates of Chuck's books is definitely cruel and unusual punishment.
Chuck, I'll only do this once (promises, promises)... in case you didn't see it on the last thread, my second (you read my 4th) rejoinder was : Crouching Tyler, Hidden Durden.
Now I know how you feel when people tell you their favourite book of yours is Fight Club, or, say, Lullaby.
Not to worry, there are many more re-tortes in the oven.
Oddly enough, "Torte" got 1 like or so, vs over a dozen and counting (yes!!!) for Crouching. ;)
I heard that authors (and other creative types) and their audience often disagree over the quality of their output. Yes, my head is swelling like a puff pastry since your comment 3 weeks ago.
You made me realize how un-far I have come since elementary school. I dedicated much of my time there to exactly this...passing humorous notes around to the other kids.
The teacher was a lot less amused and appreciative of my oeuvres than my classmates were.
Maybe I would have "killed" even more, given that my handwriting has always been marred by illegibility. I guess some things have changed since the 70s.
I dunno, but Chinese Trainspotting feels like it would be a very stylish period piece where a French friend, a British friend and a Chinese friend do opium. Maybe fight about it. Twice. Maybe throw a small rebellion in there somewhere. I dunno, just spitballing.
Johnny Depp has to be in this film, and they have to smoke real opium. Then they plan a heist of an East Indian Company Ship, but get too high on board, fall asleep, and wake up back in a boring western nation.
I thought it was kindah cute how the lead fellah on TMZ was getting all twitterpated over having Chuck on the show! He was super-fanning!
I’m also somewhat suspicious about how many people have reaaaaally read your books. Hmmmm!
Great interview!! You really take moments like these and handle them with finesse— interviewing skills to learn from! I hope more folks come to Substack!! ♥️
Ted is obviously projecting.
Maybe we need to clean our room, first?
I was watching JBP on JRE and paused it to watch CP on TMZ.
Careful. 'CP' also stands for child porn. Just a coincidence.
Also stands for Cheese Pizza. Coincidence?
Oh dear, the PizzaGate is not dead.
Let's put all this nonsense behind us and sacrifice a chicken to Moloch.
Sacrifice has already been made— Sassy chewed off Mr. Pizza’s hand.
In a few moments some very nice men will come knocking at your door. Please go with them. They will not hurt you.
Nice knowin ya, John.
I dont like pizza, thanks though.
The best part of this is I know nothing about pizza gate and made an unintentional funny.
Great way to start off a night, a story, shit....a cult.
(Spits my tea!)
Oh damn! I better write faster or I’ll never be censored!
Be careful what you ask for. It's quite easy to be cancelled.
The same mechanism that allows anyone to become famous allows anyone to be canceled.
You don’t write to make friends.
- Joy Williams 😀
Exactly! Love that quote!
I’m going to be hunted down by my own kind for what I’ve been writing! I better start thinking of a pen name…
Don't you dare. Taking the heat is half the fun.
What’s wrong with a pen/nick name???
(Goes into witness protection)
Writing goals.

Detoxing in Afghanistan would be brutal. But hey you’re right, at least they’re alive!
So you got them already!! I mailed those on Monday!

‘Chinese Psycho’—it’s just a narrative about a guy going around showing people uncensored fiction and news.
Calling Bret right this very moment... A re-boot.
On his latest podcast Bret talks about cancel culture as the new McCarthyism and references Mao's cultural revolution, observing "a destroyed culture is more easily controlled."
So I'd say Bret is just about fully red pilled now. How long until he uses the term "cultural Marxism"?
“I have to return some unedited videotapes.”
Time to let the rats out…
🎶The stars at night, are big and bright 👏 👏 👏 👏deep in the heart of Nanking🎶

I wonder how the Chinese state media would interpret Harold and Maude.
Also… You have probably seen this, but for others who might not have — here is the hand painted Fight Club poster from Ghana.

Fingers crossed that a new copy of Fight Club will be issued to every Texas inmate at intake along with their linens and clothes
I would gladly pay higher sales tax to support that initiative
Incidentally, some space-monkey’s job is listening to constituent voice mails to their Senator. In grad school, I liked to add calling your Senator to the many drinking games we played. Just saying; https://www.cruz.senate.gov/contact/office-locations
(oh please, oh please, oh please....)
Texas should make your books mandatory reading. They adore breaking rules and rebellion. I miss it there.
Not the people that make the "rules". I love Texas, but the government needs something better to do. Like start a war with Oklahoma.
We will invade Oklahoma. We will show them what barbecue is. We will outlaw the eating of the wet side of brisket.
I bet sales are decent in Texas. A good banning is like a flashing sales beacon to people! Thank you again Tom! I not only got a gift from Mr. P today but I also finally got a job offer. It was a good day. Thank you Sir.
Great stuff. Congrats on that. I feel your pain on the 'waiting for a job offer' front. Hope it's something you wanted!
Thank you! It's a little job to get me back on my feet. Silicon Valley is fiercely competitive.
Yes! Congratulations!
Thank you Sir!
P.S. Every time I look in the mirror I see some glitter stuck in my hair, clothes and/or face I snicker. You totally delivered on just the right amount of glitter lol. I'm going to to use them to decorate my next terrarium.
Don't take this the wrong way, but that glitter just means you're a vampire.
Oh shit. Glittery vampires are the shittiest vampires of the bunch! At least it's Mr-Palahniuk-glitter so that means I could probably beat up the other glitter vampires. ;P Seriously though. Plus ca change...
Imagine kids with texts and phones nowadays.
Maybe I would have "killed" even more, given that my handwriting has always been marred by illegibility. I guess some things have changed since the 70s.
Being banned by a prison system actually seems like a lofty goal! But fuck Ted Cruz.
I dunno, but Chinese Trainspotting feels like it would be a very stylish period piece where a French friend, a British friend and a Chinese friend do opium. Maybe fight about it. Twice. Maybe throw a small rebellion in there somewhere. I dunno, just spitballing.
Back at pub date in 1996, The New Yorker referred to Fight Club as the "boxer's rebellion." Very clever.
Oh that's funny. Clever, clever journalists they are.
Johnny Depp has to be in this film, and they have to smoke real opium. Then they plan a heist of an East Indian Company Ship, but get too high on board, fall asleep, and wake up back in a boring western nation.
I dunno but putting Johnny Depp on a boat in a movie is a bit of a risk at this point🤔
He was also on a boat in Dead Man. It makes up much of his career.
I thought it was kindah cute how the lead fellah on TMZ was getting all twitterpated over having Chuck on the show! He was super-fanning!
