You’re looking at Joëlle’s work on the back of a young man at The Strand Bookstore in New York City. Kind of magnificent, don’t you think? She created this epic scene1 and several others, all of them as elaborate as medieval stained-glass windows.
Thank you, Joëlle. And Happy Birthday.

The story depicts a terrified Irish valet (seated in the foreground looking dour) who’s given a speedy gender reassignment surgery aboard the Titanic so that said valet can escape aboard a lifeboat. The valet’s employer, a landed aristocrat, also marries this newly minted lady so that she might inherit all of his wealth as he himself is doomed to drown. Read the whole story in my coloring book, Bait. Geez, I love a happy ending.
Happy Birthday Joëlle
Whoa. I assume that Joelle is in NYC?
Absolutely magnificent. The delicate watercolor tattoos are the ones that always get me. I wanna try my hand and something like that one day.
