The local newspaper, the Daily Oregonian, sent a reporter to Monday’s event at the Hindsight Taproom…
The paper is planning to run a feature about the reading, using the photos shown here. I can tell them several names, but don’t want to blindside any of you who might be fugitives from the law. Andrew? Colton? Neither do I want to misspell any names. Chrissy? Krissy?
If you see yourself here, please post your preferred name in the Comments below. I’ll forward your name to the Oregonian so they can get the caption correct.
To those of you squeamish about being pictured… well, that’s part of the job eventually. You’ve got to be a face for your work. But I do understand your hesitation.
In other news…
This has been a difficult week. A decade ago I was working on the short story Phoenix with the gifted editor Amy Grace Lloyd. The Sandy Hook shooting took place, and Amy had strong connections to that area, so we took a break for a few days. This week it seems that a regular contributor to our Comments section might’ve killed himself. He posted a note to that effect, and has not responded to any of us who reached out.
There are things you can fix. And things you can’t. So it’s the latter that I choose to write about because that’s the only way I’ve found to exhaust the emotion — and to allow time to pass. I hope each of you is well.
Sincerely, chuck palahniuk
Hi Chuck. He reached out yesterday to me. Busy, stressful week, sorry maybe my message to Dennis the other day didn’t convey he was definitely ok. I wasn’t completely sure until yesterday.
That’s so terrible to hear. I saw the post and was equally concerned. I hope suicide isn’t confirmed and that he’s just going through a rough phase. A little over a year ago I was suicidal and dangerous writing, among other changes I made, helped pull me out of it. You’re doing a great thing Chuck. Please keep it up. We’re all grateful for it.
