Any dates in Canada planned?

Fingers crossed. Usually the Canadian cities follow the US tour.

Looks like Boston. I'm pushing for the Brattle Theater.

I have a good friend who's up for the kangaroo gig in Denver if you need him.

Great to see you're heading back on the 'roo-d. Happy Easter! Mars-upials attacks!

I’ll be hopping mad if I miss this tour.

Wait until you see the mess I have planned. The kangaroos are just the tip of the iceberg.

Do the kangaroo costumes have pouches? I would feel more comfortable if I could ride in a pouch...

I’m just 6f tall, but happy to carry you in my kangaroo pouch for the length of the event, Meag.

Although I’ll keep the onesie after 😂😂

Seattle?

I think so. Not confirmed.

Seattle would be pretty awesome.

You must be a kangaroo helper...

Carmichaels? Been waiting 3 years to make up for the lockdown date.

Expand full comment
author

Not all cities confirmed, will keep you posted.

(But the last time I was at Carmichael's I signed books for sixteen hours.)

I will hold and change the ice bucket for 32 hours. Last time was 2016. There will be even more, and even thirstier dorks.

Come more frequently so you dont have to put in overtime!

When I read Fugitives and Refugees 3 lives ago, I got the feeling that Louisville and Portland were a very similar flavor of strange. Still feel that way, but havent spent any time in Portland. Been saving money for a new camper van and aim to come for 10 weeks for workshop in the not so distant future. No wife, no kids, I work remotely, embrace discomfort, and have no excuse to not make this happen.

Do it John.

I second this.

Funny, my craziest friends are all from Louisville.

Its not quite the south, not quite the midwest. Has a sort of non-identity. Didnt realize just how odd this place is until I traveled for 10 years and came back. I fit in better in Brooklyn than any other place.

Youre into punk. Heres a Slint documentary where Ian Mackaye confirms that everyone from Louisville is bonkers, and it opens up with a similar quote from Hunter S Thompson. https://youtu.be/GsRpS6XGiOs

I thought it would be neat if someone did a signing at the small town indie bookstore in Madison, Indiana. Its within an hour of both Lou, and Cincy, 90 minutes from Indy. Would definitely still get a lot of people. Maybe Ill luck out and be the trailblazer?

Oh, yay! Hope I can make one of the stops! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Important Question: I have a chance to get lots of Kangaroos costumes for adults. Do you think I could get volunteers from each audience to dress as roos and act as helpers? You'd get to keep the costume.

If any of your stops are near me, I would absolutely be down to dress as a kangaroo.

Expand full comment

I would volunteer. Only idiots wouldn’t. Question, will you still be threatening to throw candy at disinterested audience member’s heads?

Duh! Slamming people with bags of mini Paydays is my game.

Hell. Yeah.

Kangaroos need to run a lot. Be warned.

Track team distance runner here. I'll be the best Kangaroo you ever saw!

Chuck, as long as I stay super-active I feel no pain. I had a very good doctor named Dr. Bolbool, his non-invasive procedures let me live a healthy life without opiates.......he's retired but his practice lives on. He did something different on my spine when I got hit by the car and it made me feel better than I ever have. My first neck injury was as a toddler if you recall from a story. Occasionally I pull a muscle and I have Aspercreme for that.

I'm in Pasadena, CA Vromans. Basically live there. So if you go there I'm up for it.

Expand full comment

Most definitely. I’ll be your Angeleno kangaroo!

Expand full comment

It will be either Vroman's or Book Soup. Be careful what you volunteer for...

Now I’m just waiting for the headline: “Author prompts multiple audience members to get inside kangaroos in jest whilst on tour in Australia.”

The poor wording might whip up a bit of frenzy, but there’s no such thing as bad publicity, right?

count me in; if i don’t do it, I’ll be hopping mad

I'd wear one. lol

If you’re a fan of Lucille Ball, I have a location for a book event that you would enjoy in Jamestown, NY.

If you come near Atlanta, I’m in.

If you're anywhere near Pittsburgh, you've got at least one kangaroo.

Think of how stupid the average person is. Half of the population is even stupider than that.

Stolen from Carlin.
