Brian Evenson Just Turned In His Submission
And of course the story is incredible. Clear and uncanny and unnerving and short. He killed it in (a few words over) eight pages. This is going to be a landmark collection.
Just so you know… I’m working with a recording label to create a collection of work on vinyl. Knock on wood, but it would be great to put Silent Nightmares on vinyl, also.
Take your best shot by clicking here. The deadline for submissions is December 31st.
I did the best I could. Its an honor to have participated, if nothing else. :)
When I was a kid, my dad had The Headless Horseman on vinyl and it was our tradition to on Halloween, after trick-or-treating and Burger King in the next town over, come back home and sit in the dark and listen to it. My dad would be sitting in his rocking chair while my sister and I huddled up nearby on the hardwood floor. The creaking floor from Dad's rocker plus the pops and crackles in the record made the story all the more scarier. Plus the lights were out! Complete and total darkness! Years later I had to have it, but vinyl was out at the time. I hunted it down and finally found it online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi5BJqf6e1k&t=14s
My little boys are old enough now, it's time to rekindle the tradition!
