Such a great cause. We adopted a tabby cat from the shelter this fall and named her Frances Houseman (Baby). She’s a menace but she’s cute so she gets away with it. It’s so nice you do this. The shelters are so overrun and need so much. ❤️
Started reading a novel called Tender is the Flesh. I was excited to get into this book because of the prose, the first page that Amazon let me read. Love short sentences and sentence fragments. But as I got into the chapter, the first chapter, I was disillusioned. The narrator was all by himself in his apartment. It's usually a red flag for me. You made the comment that characters alone tend to do too much remembering. And guess what happened? Remembering! A lot of exposition too. Also, every series was a series of three. I know that is something you would call out.
Have you heard of Tender is the Flesh? The concept is intriguing.

Does that have the story "Dear Jerry"? As I recall it's a letter written by JD Salinger's father to Jerry Salinger. It was a marvel of a story.

They're so long that I suggest hanging one from a book on your top shelf and leaving it at that.
