Bill Hicks had a rant about drugs.

Something along the lines of " if ever ran things drugs wouldn't only be legal, they'd be mandatory."

People at a movie premiere taking things seriously sounds boring.

I'd rather be stoned next to Edward Norton making fart jokes than sitting around being uptight about bunch of fictional characters.

I saw FIght Club at the Broadway Theater in Portland the night it came out. It was completely sold out, and I was on a blind date with the most beautiful woman I'd ever met, (perfectly named Summer). The only seats were the front row, bottom corner. I took the end seat and Summer the one next to me, so I passed the entire movie with her pressed tight against my torso. Up until I saw Blade Runner 2049 in an empty iMax theater the day it opened, this was my ultimate cinematic experience. It's still a close second.

Chuck there is a question from the back of the room. Hand raised.

Question - who is the upside down person in the header of your post?

It’s doesn’t look like either Ed Norton or Brad Pitts’ eyes.

Something to aspire to I suppose.

☑️ Get boo'd at a film festival while being stoned out of your mind for your book made into a film. This means it will be a classic because people have no taste in the moment or something like that.

I don't know if there is any film that I have seen first off and hated that I later on appreciated. I rather recall getting the shit scared out of myself at 10 for watching Aliens but I love that movie. This weekend my daughter watched her first horror movie "Megan" and she enjoyed it. She asked me what my first horror movie was and I told her about Aliens but I think it would be way too scary for her. Unless of course I let her hold my motion tracker and wear my USCM CPL Hicks armor.

“The film’s stars Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, who were both stoned at the premiere...”

This is just awful. I thought we were past this barbaric medieval practice.

Was purge cleaning this weekend and came across an old box of photos and halfway down is a black and white 6x8 of Brad Pitt and Ed Norton on the set of Fight Club. No idea where I got it! Maybe one of those places that sold posters/comic books??

Whoa, I would love to see that!

I haven’t seen “Harold and Maude” in years.

The script, the stellar cast, the direction. Twenty four years was at the cusp of the 21st century. Difficult to believe it received a negative reception. I don't think being young is prerequisite for appreciating a good film.

Yeah, but not 24 years ago when the film was released.

Read the book years ago. Just saw the movie in the past three or four years. Loved it. It’s held up well.

My favorite movie of all time. Amazed when I first saw it. Holds up brilliantly to repeated viewings.

Seconded on all accounts.

An epic classic that will survive the test of time and always transcend the limited vision of momo film critics everywhere.

No, obviously that wasn't a question, and was not anything to do with my response.

Guys, have we seen the same Fight Club? Critics' job is to be nothing and read. Wouldn't it be nice if I'd be able to daydream that critics don't exist! I rememeber all my mates in my home town being shaken by Fight Club.

I hope that David Fincher knows that he's holding millions of people hostage by not finishing Mindhunter!

See you some other time.

Having just moved to the 'burbs from San Francisco, I was a freshman in high school when the movie came out and, man, was that a savior! The new high school was where Shirley Jackson's alma mater, a fact the town didn't seem to embrace in the least (maybe it's changed since 1999). My new circle of friends and I were definitely appreciative of some much-needed transgressive material like Fight Club. Ironically, parts of Harold and Maude were filmed around the same area (Burlingame and Hillsborough) decades earlier!
