I really like the opening scene from ‘Falling Down’. Builds tension through overstimulation and by the end of it you feel the need to take a breath, despite the scene just being a guy sitting in his car. https://youtu.be/piPzExBdfIg

Congrats to the winner! I’m sure Chuck will teach you a valuable lesson in tension when you open the package. (I’m not saying it’ll be the same, but for me, it was a matter of cutting the green wire).

He sent you a hay bale?

If hay bales nowadays are made mostly of nitroglycerin and begin a countdown sequence when their packaging is removed, then yes. Yes, he sent me a hay bale.

Congrats, Tom!

Another thing: Can I ask, are the Hindsight Story Nights every Monday?

And the Feedback/Critique nights, every Thursday for how long?

I'm looking to make the trip from out west to y'all – just want to make sure I got the dates right!

Thanks a million!

I totally missed the contest somehow. My emails havent been showing up promptly.

Once again, for anyone interested, several members of this workshop also congregate in a Discord channel, and we're doing weekly video conference readings to help one another be better writers. Chuck is not present there, but the feedback helps. A lot.

Hey, any community building is good. I'm trying to stay focused here. Thanks.

Thanks for creating the opportunity for that! Created a real life communal gathering on October 1st with a lot of help from a friend who organizes festivals. Also met a filmmaker who just moved back here from Portland OR, and is interested in creating an in person workshop. Been trying to accomplish this since I read Tribe in 2017, and its finally coming together, in multiple ways! A few days ago I realized that the 3 things I care about most all connect people. Stories, music, food.

Dont want to take anything away from this or step on any toes. If I have, I apologize. Will let it grow on its own from here on out.
