Apparently, when they were done filming ‘Session 9’, the crew wrote “we did asbestos we could!” In the grime that lines the wall of the sewer tunnel. Wonder if it’s still there today.
Would you believe, somehow I still haven't managed to gain access to the internet archive? I've logged in through Google and yet I still can't view more than the cover. Male pride/knowing for a fact that I'll press a button and it'll be the most obvious thing in the world but what it is (apparently every book ever) and the fact that I can't access it is making the still open tab evolve into my nemesis!
Was it that good or just happened to be the last thing you read before bed? i watched They shoot horses don't they? and feel it's a perfect film; so I'm holding this story in similar esteem (whilst also lowkey resenting it)
Just finished it. I happened to be listening to a pretty menacing song for the majority of the story's duration that fit the tension perfectly. I was a tiny bit annoyed by the ending, but this comment actually made me apprentice the story more. The image it leaves you with is the perfect set up for the mind to wander. Especially with the psychics biblical reference seeming more literal near the end.
I loved most of all that it clearly demonstrates how to build tension. Focus on the minutia, while they're dreading the headline. When she drops the knife, or the paper boy turns up; you're too tense to be annoyed. You chase the next part. And that's how foreboding is anyway. When you're waiting for something to happen, everything that happens is THE thing. Horror movies kind of abuse this but its true of life as well.
You are ready for prime time now! Did you see Chuck's comment to me about it? He seems to be going in a very different direction, but I tend to agree with you. I was raised on all this, in book and movie form.
I'm actually fine with endings left up to the reader's imagination. I much prefer it to the disappointment if a "dumb" or senseless ending, or one no one would ever be able to have figured out based on the story.
PS It's the short story by that name, which appears toward the end. You don't have to read the whole book, but I liked that too (got about halfway in so far).
Well, since you shared this fabulous list, may I ask for more, e.g. the films you dig primarily for photography? I'm very interested to find out the palette color you resonate the most. Thank you in advance!
I love Galaxy Quest! We had a hefty sci-fi module in Media Studies, going back to classics and then the over-saturation of the genre and Galaxy Quest was just so fun!
Not heard of some of the films mentioned so will have to investigate!
I love me some Sunset Boulevard and Alien! Your quip about the monkey's backstory was fantastic and will forever change how I watch the movie Mr. Palahniuk!

Sorry Chuck for freaking out about the Ephron book. I was honestly very upset but it's not your fault.
I shared the online link to the Baxter story.
Take care
Karen
It's okay Karen. Just say five Palahniuk's before bed every night and you shall be forgiven lol
Sounds good! I actually refrain from reading the blog at night so I won't get overexcitement induced insomnia! haha.
Thanks for your forgiveness. I didn't expect such an outsized reaction. Maybe there were other quasi trolls out there, perhaps invisible haha
I have no objections to Safety Net. Loved it, in fact! haha
Have a great day!
Karen! You are too generous! Thank you!
Hi, a little late but where did you share the link? Having trouble finding it myself
Scroll up 😉 I'll post it again in a few hours (it's still early here). I think the site is called internet archives. And it's free.
I’ll get scrolling! Thanks a lot! 😎
My pleasure. Check the page where Chuck gave the 1 week warning. A few people posted it.
Also theres a you search function on this blog. 😃

Enjoy! Fortunately it's short. And captivating too!
Thanks so much!!!
You're welcome. Would you believe I dreamed about that story last night? Maybe I'm ready to discuss it now in the group. 😄

I can walk you through it in about 2 hours from now on another medium if you want.

I tend to at least get something out of his recs; thanks a lot! You too!
Any chance this could be a regular thing? No pressure, like once a month or less. Other catergories of movie and eventually music!
Thanks for the list! 😄
Maybe, somewhere down the line, there will be a list of the films you like for the music. 🤗
Just what I was going to ask!
Have you ever seen Buffalo 66? Feel like you might like it.
Thank you!
Heavenly Creatures is also on my favorites. I’m always surprised when I meet people who’ve seen it though.
Citizen Kane👌
👌Elephant Man!✊
Harold and Maude is my favourite film. My wife and I make sure to watch it every year. We gave away copies of the DVD to our wedding party.

No 'Freddie Got Fingered'? I'm disappointed.

Time for some movie nights! Thank you!

LOVE THE LIST, CHUCK!!!
