Chuck thanks for the notes! This is incredible. I've been reading your books since I was in high school (twenty years ago.) I used to have to special order your books from this independent book store in the mall. Lol. Would take like a week for each one to arrive. Anyway, I started writing about a year ago. I used to have to special order your books from this independent book store in the mall. Lol. Would take like a week for each one to arrive. Anyway, I started writing about a year ago. I'm kicking myself now for not trying it sooner. I picked up "Consider This" only a few months ago. Again, kicking myself for not having read it sooner. So much great (concrete, applicable) stuff in there. This substack has been great too. So many good writers in here. And you've been very generous with advice. Can't thank you enough!
The daughter in this story sounds scarily familiar to my own. I joke she's going to be the CEO of some heinous company one day. Brilliant stuff. And Chuck's feedback, as always, would make this hit extra hard.
Really enjoyed this, Richie! Thanks for sharing your art. As for your comment of only having started writing a year ago, hope you stop kicking yourself sooner rather than later! It's a huge win that after only a year you are already sharing your work and taking your writing seriously enough to join this Substack. Plus, plenty examples of writers who started later in life (Anthony Burgess, Toni Morrison, Bram Stoker, etc.)
Hey Richie. I used to think I'd start writing once I retired. If I'd stuck to that plan I wouldn't have picked up a pen for another five years. Congratulations on starting.
