I wonder if any shelters had anticipated people adopting animals because they were more or less bored during the lockdowns and if they took any measures to try and combat the unfortunate inevitable -- returning the animal later, after the lockdowns, so that they can “travel more” or whatever.

Good luck to the project -- and really to all future endeavours of the organisation -- and congrats to those with bookmarks coming their way (“just eighty,” he says. Meanwhile, 10 minutes into cutting out plane, rectangular paper bookmarks and I’m spent).

I absolutely love that you do this Chuck!

I participated last year and adore my one-of-a-kind bookmark. It's gorgeous and I feel like all the stones were chosen exactly for me, and I even kept all the packaging to reuse because it's too beautiful to go to waste.

I highly recommend donating to Pixie Project, regardless of whether you receive a bookmark. They're an amazing organization.

For those of us on the other side of the pond, we can donate anyway and let someone else unwrap the packages in the US, right?

My pixie project book mark is my proudest possession. I’ve become a regular donator. I’m donating again this year and having a book mark sent to a dear friend who is crazy for Chuck and animals.

Bought last year- plan to buy this year. The book mark hangs on my navy wall and is a rainbow cascade of beauty. I love it and it’s a perfect decoration to add character to a corner of the house.

That angers me. People are buying pets during lockdown because what? Boredom? Then they just discard them after they've served their purpose? Sad. I always believed that when you take in an animal, your top priority is to give THEM the better life.

And your packages look gorgeous! I believe I got one in a package you sent on a separate occasion. Felt bad for opening it though, it was like destroying art lol

I have two now. The first one I had professionally framed with the letter, and fancy tissue paper. The second I keep in the box it came in. Everyone askes "What is inside the box next to the severed arm?" I cannot wait to get another.

Chuck puts his heart into these! Well worth the money and it’s for an incredible cause!

If you are considering donating I highly recommend it. It feels good to help the animal friends and Chuck’s bookmark was a huge bonus. I can hardly call it a bookmark, it’s a work of art and trails the length of my bookshelf with stones that include a jade mouse and a fluoride heart. Even the package is a knock out, it’s the most marvelous wrapping I’ve ever seen and comes with a bonus surprise I won’t spoil here. Give to Pixie project either way as they help our furry friends daily, but go for a bookmark if you can, it's a full on experience and Chuck's work is stunning.

So glad you’re doing this again! My bookmark from last year is amazing, & I hope to score one for my daughter this year. I surrendered her for adoption and when we reconnected, we both counted Chuck as a favorite author, one of the things that we laugh about being genetic.

Great cause too, bookmark or not!

I can only imagine the logistical nightmare that posting abroad poses! As I've been lucky enough to win one of your coveted parcels, the Pixie Project have received a donation in your honour. I hope that this goes some way in helping them to continue their good work.

"plus bits of antique jewelry that belonged to my mother." That is really special. That melts my heart! <3

Definitely plan to donate. I know the youth and women's shelters really struggled in my area during the pandemic. Directors told me more folks were coming in, but less people than usual were donating. Sorry this is happening to animal shelters as well. : (
